April 14 Council Meeting: What You Need to Know

Highfill Highlights

April 15, 2026

The Highfill City Council met Tuesday evening for its regular monthly meeting at City Hall. Here’s what your local government accomplished for our community.

Meeting Highlights

  • Approved the minutes from the March 10, 2026, City Council meeting.
  • The Council heard from several citizens and non-citizens regarding the creation of the Highfill Northwest Arkansas Industrial Development Authority, with many individuals taking the opportunity to share their thoughts and perspectives.

New Business

  • Resolution 2026-13 was approved, appointing a council member to Position 2, Ward 3.
  • Resolution 2026-14 was approved, authorizing an agreement for inspection services between the City of Highfill and the City of Elm Springs.
  • Resolution 2026-15 was approved, making an appointment to the Highfill Park Commission.
  • Resolution 2026-16 was approved, amending the City’s non-uniformed personnel policy regarding accrued vacation time.
  • Ordinance 2026-7 was approved, addressing zoning changes for property owned by County Door, LLC.
  • Ordinance 2026-8 was tabled to allow for additional public input and will be considered at a future meeting.

Financials

  • The Council approved the March 2026 financial reports.

Mayor’s Report

  • The City is expected to close on the James House property within the next few weeks.
  • Progress continues on infrastructure improvements, with the City also preparing to close on the new water pump station on Till Hill in the near future.
  • Following Council approval last month, staff located and purchased a 2009 dump truck with approximately 69,000 miles. The vehicle was inspected and confirmed to be in good mechanical condition.
  • The truck was negotiated below the original asking price and came in under budget.
  • Due to the cost savings, the City is exploring adding plow equipment to the truck, which would allow for improved snow removal capabilities and the ability to utilize multiple plows when needed.
