The City of Highfill is now accepting applications from individuals interested in serving the community through appointment to one of the city’s advisory boards. These volunteer positions provide an opportunity to directly support city operations, planning, and infrastructure development.
Openings are currently available for the following boards:
🔹 Planning Commission
🔹 Water and Sewer Committee
These boards play an important role in shaping the future of Highfill by advising City leadership on land use, development, infrastructure needs, and essential public services.
Planning Commission
The Planning Commission helps guide the long-term growth and development of the City of Highfill. This board reviews development proposals and makes recommendations to the City Council regarding planning and zoning matters.
Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and evaluating development proposals
- Making recommendations on land use and zoning decisions
- Assisting with long-range planning efforts for growth and infrastructure
- Advising the City Council on planning-related matters
Board Details:
- 5-member board
- Members must live within Highfill city limits
- Appointed by City Council
- 5-year terms
- Meets at least monthly
Members play a key role in ensuring that growth in Highfill is managed responsibly and aligns with the city’s long-term vision.

Water and Sewer Committee
The Water and Sewer Committee supports the operation, maintenance, and improvement of the City of Highfill’s water and sewer system. This includes reviewing system needs and assisting with infrastructure planning to ensure reliable utility services for residents and businesses.
Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing water and sewer system operations and maintenance
- Reviewing and recommending system improvements and expansions
- Establishing guidelines for system use and operations
- Supporting infrastructure planning and utility management decisions
Board Details:
- 5-member board
- Appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by City Council
- 2-year terms
- Works closely with City Council on utility-related matters
