👥About the Planning Commission:
The Planning Commission consists of five members who work together to shape Highfill’s development and land use decisions. More specifically, the Commission is responsible for:
- Reviewing development proposals to ensure projects are appropriate for the community
- Making zoning and subdivision recommendations that align with city goals
- Assisting with long-term planning efforts to prepare for future growth
- Promoting coordinated, strategic, and sustainable development practices
- Advising the City Council on important land use and policy matters
Through this work, the Commission plays an essential role in balancing progress with preservation, ensuring that Highfill remains a great place to live, work, and grow.
📌Eligibility Requirements:
To be considered for appointment, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must reside within the City of Highfill
- At least two-thirds of Commission members must not hold any other municipal office
- Must be appointed by a majority vote of the City Council following nomination by the Mayor or any Council member
⏳ Commission Term:
This appointment will fill the remainder of an unexpired term. While all official terms begin on January 1 and last for five years, members continue to serve until their successors are appointed and qualified. This structure allows for continuity in decision-making and ensures the Planning Commission can function effectively without interruption.
