The Highfill Parks Advisory Committee (HPAC) held a special meeting on Thursday, June 25, to finalize plans for Freedom Fest, which takes place tomorrow, Saturday, June 27, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Highfill City Park.
The committee approved the May 19 meeting minutes before opening the floor for public comment. One attendee asked to wait until the Freedom Fest agenda item to discuss event logistics. With no additional speakers, the committee closed public comment and moved into the main business of the meeting.
The majority of the meeting focused on making sure every detail was in place before tomorrow’s event.
Committee members confirmed that the Freedom Fest banner is ready for installation and that directional signs have been completed. Visitors will see signs throughout the park identifying general parking, overflow parking, handicap parking, and directional arrows to help guide traffic into and around the event.
The committee also reviewed the final event layout. Sixteen vendors, including six food trucks, are expected to participate. Vendor locations were discussed to ensure adequate electrical access and an efficient setup. Members also noted that Pinchos Chocolate Dipped will arrive later in the evening after completing another event.
Residents can also expect to see vehicle displays from Nunnally Chevrolet positioned near the stage. The committee discussed placement options to ensure the displays enhance the event while maintaining safe access to the inflatables and other activities.
Additional discussions covered the placement of the DJ and stage, inflatables, vendor booths, volunteer assignments, park preparation, and other operational details needed to ensure a safe and enjoyable event for everyone attending.
Before concluding the meeting, the committee shifted its attention to future events by beginning preliminary planning for Christmas in the Park. Members confirmed that both Santa Claus and the Grinch are expected to return for this year’s celebration and discussed ideas for continuing to grow the event.
The committee also confirmed its next regular meeting for Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
As always, HPAC meetings are open to the public, and community members are encouraged to attend, stay informed, and participate in planning the parks and events that bring Highfill together.
🎪 Freedom Fest Vendors
We’re excited to welcome a growing lineup of local vendors joining us at Freedom Fest.
The City of Highfill would like to inform the public that Pafford will be providing on-site support at this year’s event with a First Aid Station.
The station will include a tent setup, complimentary water, and basic first aid services available to attendees throughout the duration of the event. This service is intended to support the safety and well-being of all participants.
We encourage attendees to take advantage of this resource if needed and extend our appreciation to Pafford for their assistance in helping keep our community event safe and enjoyable.
